I qualified from the London Hospital Medical College (now Barts and the London) in 1997, returning to South Wales in 1999 to continue my medical education.  Having obtained my membership of the Royal College of Physicians I worked at the Institute of Nephrology, Cardiff for two years, researching diabetic renal disease which was submitted and awarded a Medical Doctorate (MD) from Cardiff University. 
Renal training continued at Wrexham Maelor hospital 2004-2007, and University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff 2008-2009, and I was appointed consultant at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in October 2009.
